Chris Stroud rebounded from a missed cut with a solid showing in the Rocket Mortgage. Stroud shot rounds of 66-71-69-70 for a 12-under 276 that tied for 30th and earned him $43,042. Both he and fellow PNG ex Andrew Landry are playing in this week’s Workday Charity Open in Columbus, Ohio. …
Braden Bailey was making a serious run at successfully qualifying for this week’s Korn Ferry Tour event when disaster struck. Needing to shoot eight under to grab one of four spots available at Briggs Ranch in San Antonio, Bailey was six-under through 13 holes and had two par 5s left.
A triple bogey 7 at 14 derailed him, however, and he wound up settling for a one-under-par 71. He’ll try to bounce back in this week’s APT tournament in Victoria. …
The PNG Indian golf camp, open to boys and girls in grades four through nine, is set for July 27-30 at Babe Zaharias. Registration fee is $125 for the camp, whose instructors will be PNG golf coach Jerry Honza and Zaharias pro Mitch Duncan.
Instruction for those in grades four through six will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. daily. Times for golfers in grades seven through nine will be 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Wet conditions on July 4 led to the Super Senior Game 2 ball at Babe Zaharias being contested as a par 4 game.
Winning the front in minus 12 was the team of Doug LeBlanc, Steve Wisenbaker, Calvin Landry and John Moore. On the back, the fivesome of James Shipley Brian Mirabella, Gene Jones, Larry Johnson and Stuart Ellis prevailed with minus 11. …
The Friday 2 ball at Zaharias saw the team of Jim Cady, Wisenbaker, John LeBlanc and Jason Ferguson take the front in minus 2. There was a three-way tie on the back at even between teams captained by Earl Richard Ron LaSalle and Bob West. …
In the Thursday 2 ball at Zaharias, the team of Keith Mullins, Bobby Wacker, Mark Orta and Dan Flood scored a sweep. They were three under on the front and minus 4 on the back. …
The Wednesday Zaharias DogFight was played in an all-points-count format. Placing first with 27 points was the team of Ed Holley, Bill Hanley, Danny Robbins and Tommy Duhon. Teams captained by Cap Hollier and Adam Davis tied for second with 26 points.
Closest to the pin winners were Rick Pritchett (No. 2, 6 feet, 10 inches), West (No. 7, 5-0), Jimmy Schexneider (No. 12, 2-10) and Roy Martinez (No. 15, 1 foot after kissing off the pin).
