PORT NECHES — Two men from Port Neches reportedly attacked several people then tried to run them over with a vehicle before daybreak Monday.
Port Neches officers arrested Joey James Mink, 18, and Austin Michael Peterson, 19, each on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Bond is set at $10,000 for each man.
Port Neches Police Chief Cheri Griffith said police received the call of an assault in progress at 12:23 a.m. Monday in the area of Llano Street and Avenue D.
The two men allegedly instigated an argument with three people who were walking, then got out of their vehicle and attacked two of the three people. Then they reportedly tried to run the people over with a vehicle, Griffith said.
Police were dispatched to the area and met with the victims and began searching the area for the suspects. The alleged suspects were located and arrested.
Griffith said this was not a random attack and the parties knew each other.
Police are not releasing what type of weapons the suspects had with them as the case is under investigation.
In other news, the Port Neches Police Department is still searching for a man suspected of shooting another man with a shotgun Friday.
Griffith said the call came in at 4 p.m. Friday at The Palms Apartments, in the 800 block of Ridgewood.
Griffith said there was an argument between two individuals and one man shot the other man in the leg with a shotgun.
When police arrived on scene the alleged shooter was no longer there.
Port Neches Fire and Acadian Ambulance treated and transported a person to a local hospital. The man is listed in stable condition.
