Joseph Harrison Jr., 89, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away peacefully Saturday December 16, at his home.
Joseph was born December 2, 1934 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Anna Lee and Joseph Harrison Sr.
He moved to Port Arthur in the late 50’s and remained a resident for over 67 years where he worked and retired as a Longshoreman.
He joined Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ with his parents and later became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his parents. His only sister Tressie Lee Butcher, His only brother Earl Brantley (Edith) and one great-grandson Jakobi Mitchell.
He leaves to cherish his wife of 71 years, Celestine Harrison; his daughter Connie Williams; four grandchildren, Lionel Ford (Houston), Corey Ford (Houston), Brittany Williams (Port Arthur), Alex Williams (Houston); fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a special niece; “Bunkin” Ozell Celes Edith Butcher; a devoted friend, Jerry “Chuck” Freeman (Liz); lifelong best friend and brother Johnnie B. Streeter (Mae Lois); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Paul United Methodist, 821 Freeman Ave., Port Arthur, Texas with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time.
Pastor James Berry will officiate.
Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
