King’s Cuestick is the latest business shut down by police for city ordinance violations related to the illegal operation of game rooms.
Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso said the inspection and closure of the business took place last week.
In order to reopen the business, King’s Cuestick, 8160 9th Avenue, must file an appeal with the city manager’s office within 10 days of the closure. A board will then review the appeal and make a determination, he said.
In late November and early December, Port Arthur Police Department officers and members of the Narcotics and Guns Unit conducted two inspections of game rooms.
The first took place in the 3400 block of Twin City Highway and focused on KC’s Game Room.
The second took place at 777 Game Room in the 3300 block of Medical Triangle Drive.
During inspections at KC’s Game Room, a city ordinance violation was discovered, so the game room was closed, according to information from Port Arthur Police Department.
Later, while at 777 Game Room, one person was arrested for promotion of gambling and the game room closed as well.
Police arrested Sambasiva Rao Markapuram of Port Arthur, for promotion of gambling.
Markapuram was released Dec. 7 after posting a $3,000 bond.
