Minister Garland Flakes Sr., 60, of Temple, Texas went to his heavenly home Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from his earthly home.

A native of Temple, Texas, he was a resident of Port Arthur, Texas for 20 years and was a dedicated servant to Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and the community of Port Arthur.

He is survived by his wife, Delena Flakes, their children, Brittany and her husband Kam, Chaundra and her husband Harry Jr., Dustin and his wife Jennifer, M’Kenzie and her husband Quinntin, Garland II, and Lauryn; his sister Charmin La Trell Trusdale; twelve grandchildren; his mother-in-law Ethel Ellis; his nieces and nephews, and a host of children, friends, and family.

He was preceded in death by his brother Brian, his mother Myrtle, and his father-in-law Ronnie Ellis.

A wake will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 501 West Thomas Blvd., Port Arthur, Texas.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Mount Sinai with visitation from 8 a.m. until service time.
