GROVES — An expired registration sticker led Groves Police to pull over a vehicle where officers allegedly found weapons that were illegally modified.
The traffic stop occurred July 7 near the 2700 block of Ruby Drive. The three people inside the car were arrested on various charges, including Jaylin Reshawn White, 22, of Groves.
When the officer checked the weapons found in the car he noted there was a modification made that allowed the gun to be fired as a fully automatic weapon, according to a probable cause affidavit.
White was arrested July 8 for possession of a controlled substance with a $500 bond and possession of a prohibited weapon with a $10,000 bond. He bonded out the same day, according to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
A Jefferson County grand jury indicted White this week on a charge of prohibited weapon.
An indictment is not a final conviction of guilt; it is only a ruling by the grand jury that allows the district attorney’s office to proceed with a criminal case.
