Mrs. Sandra Davis McDaniel, 81, of Port Arthur, Texas was welcomed home by the Lord, Sunday, April 14, 2024.
A native of Port Arthur, Sandra graduated with the Class of 1960 from Lincoln High School.
She served as a dedicated educator most of her adult life and helped shape the lives of numerous students over the course of her career.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, April 26th, at Jireh World Church and Outreach Ministries, 3505 Procter Street, Port Arthur, Texas, with Senior Pastor Pearlanna Carron officiating.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Survivors include two daughters: DeEdria (Leo) Bourgeois and LaToya (Alvin) Stokes, both of Katy, Texas; and three grandchildren: Bre’Onna McDaniel, Amber Bourgeois, and Van Bourgeois.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Van; parents: George Whitley and Bessie Frances “Fran” Davis; and a brother, George Whitley Davis III.
She is also survived by two sisters, Dr. Madelyn (Travis) Hunt of Washington, Texas and Vivian (Jesse) Ballou of Port Arthur, Texas; and a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and devoted friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sandra McDaniel’s name to Sam Houston Elementary School.
Checks may be made payable to Sam Houston Elementary School with Student Activities Fund listed in the Memo.
Funds will be used to support end-of-year activities, awards, and celebrations for the students at her beloved school home.
