Due to adverse weather conditions and strong winds, “we regret to inform you that tonight’s Riverfest festival has been canceled.”

That was the announcement made Thursday as rough weather continued to sweep through Port Arthur, Mid County and beyond.

“Our utmost priority is the safety and well-being of all attendees, and we are diligently working towards ensuring a seamless experience for the upcoming Friday, Saturday and Sunday events,” festival leaders stated.

“In making this difficult decision, we have collaborated closely with city officials and our dedicated Riverfest committee. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this unpredictable situation. Our main objective is to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved.”

Organizers apologized for the inconvenience caused and thanked attendees for continued support and cooperation.

“We look forward to welcoming you to the festival on Friday and providing you with an unforgettable experience.”

ENTERGY

Severe rainstorms, strong winds and hail caused widespread outages across the Entergy Texas service area Thursday morning and into the afternoon.

As of 11:30 a.m. Thursday, approximately 28,300 customers are without power.

“Right after a storm passes, Entergy Texas crews immediately begin assessing damage to electrical equipment and facilities to determine the safest way to restore power to communities,” Entergy stated. “While majority of customers may be restored quickly, the estimated restoration time depends on the severity of damage in the area. Entergy Texas crews will work only when and where conditions are safe and secure to do so.”
