NEDERLAND — The popularity of local farmers’ markets, places to grab everything from fresh produce and honey to candles and even crafts has spread through the area over the past few years.
Port Neches has a successful Riverfront Farmers Market as does Beaumont and Bridge City.
But the vendor list for some markets fill up quickly and since there isn’t already a farmer’s market in Nederland, Kayzel Belgica decided to launch one.
The Nederland Farmers Market is set for 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 10 at 912 S. Twin City Hwy. in Nederland. Belgica realizes the summer temps will be high and hopes to find a climate-controlled location in the future.
She’s looking to have vendors with fresh produce, fresh meat, eggs, honey, candles, soaps jams, plants, dessert, jewelry, bread, and refreshments.
Belgica will be selling her own candles and is hoping to have more farm products for the market, she said.
She’s not doing this alone. She will be working with the folks at Mid County Victory Garden and a few others who have experience with farmer’s markets.
