A Port Arthur man was sentenced to 12 years in prison in a plea deal in connection with the 2019 shooting death of another man.
Kamron Tiriq Fennell, 26, pled guilty to aggravated assault in Judge John Steven’s Criminal District Court Monday, according to information from a court official.
A murder charge and evading arrest charge were both dismissed as part of the plea.
Fennell was one of four suspects in the 2019 shooting of Deshandric Clayton, 23, at Avery Trace Apartments.
According to police, Clayton was found in a breezeway at Avery Trace Apartments, 4020 FM 365. Witnesses told police they saw a maroon passenger car reportedly driven by Kylan Bazile with two other people inside that started shooting at Clayton as they passed by.
Clayton was struck by gunfire and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
In October 2022 Kylan Bazile was sentenced to 30 years after he was found guilty in the shooting death of Clayton.
