In preparation for the City of Port Arthur’s upcoming budget, officials found a new and creative way to engage with the community – a photo contest with the winning image to grace the budget book upon completion.

Brian Wallace, budget and compliance analyst with the City of Port Arthur said they wanted to see the beauty captured by the eyes of the photographers.

The contest was held with the assistance of the Port Arthur Visitors and Convention Bureau who donated the prize, a gift card.

Winner Lori Spaid of Orange’s photo shows Sabine Lake and the Causeway Bridge at Walter Umphrey State Park.

Spaid said she spends a lot of time in Port Arthur and has entered photos taken here in contests.
