Katherine Ann Kent of Chicago, IL was born on April 10, 1936, in Port Arthur, TX & passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in Chicago, IL. She is survived by her sons, Andrew Sturges; Britt Sturges; her daughter, Leah Sturges Mayer (David); her grandsons, Micah Sturges (Kate), Caleb Sturges & August Mayer; her brother, Bill Kent (Donna). She was very fond of her nephews, nieces & cousins, mostly in Texas.
She had a degree from Univ. of Texas (Alpha Phi) in medical technology and from Governors State University in Theater Arts. Her resume was varied as she loved to learn. She worked at UT medical laboratory in Galveston, Marshall Fields (State St.), Central YMCA High School, the Chicago Marathon; Plotkin & Jacobs, a law firm, where she became a sleuth locating hundreds of members for a class-action lawsuit. Her economic success came from sweat & savvy through renovation of homes in the 1970’s & 80’s on the north side of Chicago when this was not what women did.
She shared her love of music, theater, museums, & travel with her children, grandchildren & friends.
