Three Beaumont-area teens were arrested in Sulphur, Louisiana, after a car chase involving a vehicle allegedly stolen from Port Arthur.
A post by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said officers were informed of a stolen vehicle from Port Arthur traveling in the Sulphur area at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Deputies attempted to stop the car near East Napoleon Street and Willow Street. The driver refused to stop and deputies followed in pursuit. The driver was forced to stop at a dead-end at Barney Hoffpauir Road.
According to authorities, the driver and two passengers attempted to flee on foot into a nearby wooded area. CPSO deputies located two suspects, a 16-year-old teen and 18-year-old Droman T. Baltazar with the help of a K-9 unit.
A third suspect, 18-year-old Quindarius Moore, turned himself in later that morning.
Detectives located two guns inside the car, as well as property belonging to individuals from Sulphur and Lake Charles. Both guns had reportedly been stolen and officers said property was from multiple vehicle burglaries earlier in the morning.
Baltazar and Moore were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. The 16-year-old was treated at a local hospital for injuries sustained during his apprehension before being released and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
All were charged with illegal possession of stolen things less than $1000, illegal possession of stolen things $5,000-$25,000, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer by flight, and two counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms. Baltazar is also charged with possession of marijuana.
Bond has not yet been set.
The investigation is ongoing and the sheriff’s office expects more charges.
