A Port Arthur man allegedly found with approximately 1 kilo of methamphetamine during a traffic stop has bonded out of jail.
On Tuesday, Pot Arthur police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a male later identified as Paris Bennette, 54.
Bennette reportedly evaded police on foot but was quickly captured, according to information from Port Arthur Police Department
One of the officers’ K9 partner Reyna allegedly detected a narcotic odor inside Bennette’s vehicle.
A probable cause search revealed approximately 1 kilogram of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Bennette was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, >=400 grams.
Bond was set at $40,000 and Bennette bonded out the next day, according to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
