Deceased person found behind vacant building in Port Arthur

Port Arthur police are investigating the discovery of a deceased individual found behind a vacant building Monday.
Justice of the Peace Joseph Guillory II said he received a call of a deceased person just before noon. The person was either sitting up or leaning against a fence.
It is unknown how long the person was dead. Guillory ordered an autopsy.

Police vehicles were still at the location at Star City Motors LLC, 4040 Gulfway Drive, at 1 p.m. A red tarp was used to block the view of the scene and officers were seen going behind the tarp and back out. Yellow crime scene tape was also used to mark off the area until the body was removed.
A call to Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso was not immediately returned.
