Bob Hope School hosted its fundraiser “ Boots and BBQ” with NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith and musical entertainment from Neil Dover at the Hughen Center Monday night.
The two-hour program invited guests to participate in raffles for various prizes including an Emmitt Smith signed football, A guided fishing trip and Matthew Jewelers gift cards.
Speakers included Natalie Kaharick, CEO of the Texas Public Charter Schools Association to speak about the current Texas legislative session and the desire to get more government funding for charter schools in Texas.
Emmitt Smith was the main speaker of the program. Smith spoke about his long and historic career while offering advice to those in attendance about topics ranging from business to raising your children.
“I think its education that set the foundation for who I am,” said Smith. “Life lessons and life itself have opened my eyes to the possibility of what is truly possible for me.”
The money raised will be used to fund the Bob Hope Schools.
