Kathryn Elaine Lusignan

A  Mass of Christian Burial for Kathryn Elaine Lusignan will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Her family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday, with a vigil services to be held at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lusignan was born March 26, 1926 in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from high school in Opelousas, Louisiana and later moved to Port Arthur to attend Port Arthur Business College, now Lamar State College Port Arthur.
After World War II, she married Virga “Red” Lusignan and they were married for 63 Years until his death March 5, 2011.
She served as secretary to Port Arthur City Manager, George Dabrell for 31 years until they both retired.
Mrs. Luisgnan was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur and later in life of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Community in Port Neches. She served for a time on the board of directors of the Port Arthur Community Home, Lamar Port Arthur Alumni Association. She also volunteered her time at the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur.
Mrs. Lusignan was preceded in death by her parents, Delton and Laura Fanguy, her brother, Billy Fanguy, and two grandchildren, Adam and April Begnaud. She is survived by her son, Phil Lusignan and his wife Cindy, three daughters, Laura Begnaud and her husband Larry, Janie Richard and her husband Kirby, and Tina Ramirez and her husband Fernando. Also fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Lusignan’s family offers sincere gratitude to Margaret Banks, her caregiver in the final year of her life and to nurse Janet and all the aids and advisors of Harbor Hospice who assisted in the last days of her life.
