An Orange man who was caught selling meth from a local big box store parking lot is now facing a decade in jail.

U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone sentenced 47-year-old Roy Allen John Jr. Tuesday to 122 months in federal prison.

U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs said John’s federal prison sentence is for drug trafficking in the Eastern District of Texas.
John previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

According to information presented in court, in January of 2022, John was arrested after selling approximately 27.89 grams of methamphetamine to another person for $350 in the Home Depot parking lot in Orange.

An additional 123 grams of methamphetamine and three firearms were found in the vehicle John was driving.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Orange Police investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph R. Batte prosecuted.

This case was prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state and local Project Safe Neighborhoods Program, the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts.
