Tanua Rae Torbett Snyder

Tanua Rae Torbett Snyder, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully on January 12, 2024, at her home in Austin, Texas, at the age of 93.

She was born in Houston on March 26, 1930, to John C. Torbett and Ella Louise Strickland Torbett and grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, where she lived most of her life.

Tanua was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Snyder, by her parents, by her brothers, John Conrad Torbett and Gary Burl Torbett, by her son, Charles Edward Snyder.

She is survived by three children, Jerrilee Snyder Meeker, Kent Lewis Snyder, and Mark Conrad Snyder; by eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren who knew her as “Granny Tanua.”

Tanua’s memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, at First United Methodist Church of Austin, with a reception to follow at the church.
