A 64-year-old Vidor man was indicted on a drug possession charge by a Jefferson County grand jury this week.

The Beaumont Police Department reportedly stopped George Frederick Bishop III just after midnight Oct. 5 in the 4800 block of Folsom Drive and gave officers permission to search his vehicle, a Ford F-250 truck, during which a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine was found.

The narcotic was in the center console of the vehicle, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Bishop was placed under arrest on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Officers were unable to remove the drug from the pipe to weigh it, so they weighed the pipe with the drug on a digital scale. Its weight was 14.4 grams.

Bond was set by a judge at $8,000 for Bishop and he bonded out the same day, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
