The City of Groves honored its sanitation workers on National Waste Workers Day on Monday.
Groves Mayor Chris Borne read a proclamation and said sanitation workers have been providing the service and keeping the city clean since 1954.
Groves employs five sanitation technicians who put themselves at risk every day in all weather conditions as some of the first responders during emergency situations, Borne said.
The workers honored include Mathew McKinney, Brandan Charles, Mark Bullock, Wayne Pate and Clint Woods.
