NEDERLAND — A Nederland High School student was taken into custody Wednesday night in connection with a threat made toward the school.
The student, age 15, is charged with terroristic threat and is in custody at the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Justice Center.
Nederland Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Stuart Kieschnick said the threat was made against Nederland High School Wednesday afternoon and police were contacted after school.
The district issued an alert via social media Wednesday night regarding the alleged threat and subsequent arrest.
Kieschnick said they take all threats to be credible until it can be proven otherwise.
He said no weapons were found at the juvenile’s home, no plan found and no specific threat was made. The investigation is ongoing.
Nederland Assistant Police Chief Andy Arnold said police were alerted about the threat between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and a thorough investigation was undertaken.
