Category 2 Hurricane Gilma’s path and progress: NHC’s Monday, Aug 26 update

The National Hurricane Center’s 10 am Monday advisory reported that Category 2 Hurricane Gilma is 1220 miles east of Hilo Hawaii, with maximum sustained wind of 105 mph. It’s moving 8 mph to the west.

“Although some weakening is forecast during the next few days, Gilma is still expected to be a hurricane when it reaches the central Pacific basin on Tuesday.” according to analysts.

YESTERDAY (Sunday):

Yesterday, Gilma strengthened into a Category 3 hurricane then devolved into a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 105 miles per hour.
