Allison Nathan Getz, Tax Assessor-Collector for Jefferson County, announced that the Tax Office in the Beaumont Courthouse will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 10, to transition staff and equipment due to renovations. The Port Arthur Sub-Courthouse and Mid-County Tax Office locations will remain open that day.
The Beaumont Tax Office will remain on the first floor at the previous location. The Department of Motor Vehicles will handle the computer transition of their Registration and Title System, which must occur on a business weekday. The tax office will resume normal operating hours on Thursday, Nov. 12, when the office opens after the Veterans Day holiday. The digital queuing system, the kiosk system, was not able to be moved.
“We have been told construction will only last one month and we will be able to return to our original location with the kiosk system. Please be patient with fellow customers and staff as we strive to serve county residents in a restricted area,” Getz said. The Beaumont Voter Registration Department will be open to the public on Nov. 10 and temporarily located on the third floor of the Courthouse.
The Port Arthur Sub-Courthouse and Mid-County Tax Office substations are located at: Port Arthur Sub-Courthouse, 525 Lakeshore Drive, Port Arthur; Mid-County Tax Office, 4605 Jerry Ware Drive (Jack Brooks Regional Airport), Nederland.
