A Port Arthur Independent School District bus was involved in a traffic accident that left a number of students with minor injuries and sent 11 to the hospital for treatment.

PAISD Superintendent Mark Porterie said the accident occurred on Texas 73 near Texas 82 on Thursday afternoon.

Porterie said he was told a florist vehicle made an illegal u-turn in the area and collided with the bus.

No major injuries were reported but 11 students were transported to a hospital as precautionary measure.

According to a statement released on the PAISD Facebook page, responding agencies include Port Arthur Police Department, Port Arthur Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, Jerry Wrecker Service and the Beaumont Police Department.
