Guadalupe “Toby” Soliz Montalvo

Guadalupe “Toby” Soliz Montalvo, 81, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 16, 1935 to Petra Collazo Soliz and Luis Soliz in Port Arthur, Texas. Toby has been a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954 and Lamar – Port Arthur where she received her degree in Cosmetology. She had her own salon and was a beautician for over 30 years. Toby was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar Society, Damas Gaudalupanas and served as Eucharistic Minister. She was a longtime bowler, loved going to the casino and dancing with her true love, Jesse. Toby loved her family dearly and will be missed by all those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Juanita C. Soliz, Jesse Soliz, Joe Soliz and Marselino Soliz and her brother-in-law, Gregory Reyna.
Toby is survived by her loving husband, Jesse Montalvo of Port Arthur, her son, Damian Jesse Montalvo and wife, Christina of Magnolia, Texas, her daughter, Ann Frances Broussard and husband, Kim of Groves, five grandchildren, Heather Noel Broussard, Alisha Ann Broussard Lawrence, Courtney Broussard, Jesse Christopher Montalvo and Sarah Montalvo, two great grandchildren, Dean Broussard Castillo and Oliver Broussard Castillo, her two sisters, Cokey Reyna of Port Arthur, Carmen Leon and husband, Arthur of Port Arthur, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Rev. Kevin Badeaux, serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
