NEDERLAND — Police in Nederland credit a sharp-eyed citizen for leading them to a car burglar.

Nederland Assistant Police Chief Gary Porter said there had been several car burglaries in the 2400 and 2700 blocks of FM 365 near Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital between Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 as well as in the 3000 block of Avenue M nearby.

“A sharp eyed citizen called in about suspicious activity and we were able to catch the suspect,” Porter said.

The 33-year-old Nederland man was charged with one count of burglary of a vehicle and is a person of interest in other similar burglaries due to the location and time span they occurred.
