David Garcia, 86, of Humble, Texas and former resident of Groves passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble.
David was born on September 9, 1929 to Pola DeLaRosa Garcia and Luz Garcia in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of the area before moving to Humble. David was retired from Gulf Oil Refinery as supervisor of bricklayers and insulators after 32 years of service. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Luz and Gilbert, his loving wife, Marilyn Brassette Garcia, his children, Mary Lynne Garcia, Brent Garcia, M.D. and David L. Garcia.
David is survived by his daughter, Melanie Angelle of Humble, his son, Brian Garcia and wife, Sarah of Humble, his six grandchildren, Maryssa Milligan, Stephen Angelle, Chaz Garcia, Brent Garcia, Sophia Garcia and Bradley Garcia, four great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Valdez of San Antonio and his brother, Juan “Johnny” Garcia of Lumberton, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. J. C. Coon serving as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
