Peggy Gene Knight

Peggy Gene Knight, 70, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at M D Anderson in Houston, Texas.
Peggy was born on April 29, 1945 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Ernest O’Neal Thomas and Gene Maxine Stratton Thomas.
She was a lifelong area resident and a member of the United Methodist Temple where she served as an active member of the choir. Peggy taught English at Bishop Byrne High School and was an Instructor at Lamar State College Port Arthur since 1986. She traveled extensively, speaking to other faculty members across the country for the past 25 years, and served in many positions of leadership within her church.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy Frank Knight of Groves; her mother, Gene Thomas of Orange; daughter, April Wilson and her husband Scott of College Station; sons, Andrew Knight and his wife Beverly of Mauriceville, and Richard Knight of Groves; brother, Tommy Thomas and his wife Judy of Mauriceville; four grandchildren, Neal Wilson of College Station, Ashley Knight, Victoria Knight and Aiden Knight all of Mauriceville.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the United Methodist Temple with Dr. Jesse Brannen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Denzil Stratton, Walter Stratton, Richard Stratton, Jeff Branick, Sam Monroe, John McCall, and Gene Byrd.
