Challenger Cade Bernsen started off to an early lead and never looked back in his win over incumbent Jefferson County Democratic Party Chairwoman Sheila Louviere Sachitano in the primary election on Tuesday.

Bernsen won with 10,498 votes casted and 61.45 percent of the vote versus Sachitano’s 6,587 votes cast and 38.55 percent of the vote with 106 of the 109 precincts reporting. There were 17,085 total votes cast countywide out of 144,833 registered voters in the county.
