PORT NECHES — Folks looking for a good shopping deal that will benefit graduating seniors on their special night need look no farther than the 2016 Port Neches-Groves High School Project Graduation Indoor Community Garage and Craft Sale.

The fundraising event is scheduled for 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at the high school cafeteria, 1401 Merriman St. in Port Neches. A $2 donation to Project Graduation allows entrance to shop indoors and snacks and drinks will be available.

Robin McCutcheon, who is the parent of a senior at the school, said there would be plenty of items to choose from.

“We will have between 20 to 25 different vendors there selling items at table booths,” McCutcheon said. “And we will have vendors selling things they have made or that they sell. Once lady makes things out of blue jeans such as purses, one makes candles and another will be selling American Girl doll clothes.”

A number of community groups will also be on hand with booths. A Relay For Life team will be raising money for the annual event and Gulf Coast Sertoma Club will also be there.

“We had response from a lot of different groups. It’s not just Port Neches or Groves,” she said. “This is a true community event, not just PN-G.”

Monies raised from the garage and craft sale will benefit Project Graduation for food, entertainment, activities and door prizes for the night of graduation.

“So they will have a safe night and are not on the streets,” she said. “They are together and spending one of their last nights together for some of them.”

Seniors who are members of the school’s National Honor Society will be there supporting the program and selling snacks and drinks as well as assisting with set-up and take-down, she added.
