Former PN-G, Lamar player Burt Allman dies

Former Port Neches-Groves and Lamar football standout Clarence Burton “Burt” Allman died Thursday, his family announced. He was 71.
Born in Denver, Allman graduated from PN-G in 1962 and played defensive back at Lamar, where he was a part of the first two of three straight Southland Conference championship teams in 1964-66. His twin brother Mike Allman was an All-Southland player at Lamar in 1965.
Burt Allman worked as a district sales manager for Pitney Bowes for more than 24 years before retiring several years ago. He was fan motorsports and the Texas Rangers, as well as an avid fisherman.
Allman, who lived in Bedford, leaves behind his wife of 40 years Cathy Allman, sons Chris and Jeff Allman, daughters Erin Manzello and Shea Ceaujean, six grandchildren, twin brother Mike Allman, two nephews, two daughters-in-law and a son-in-law, among others.
