Internet hoax claims Clint Eastwood coming to town

Clint Eastwood fans may be a bit disappointed to hear he isn’t coming to Port Arthur for jury duty.
Rumors are circulating the internet stating the actor, director and producer known for films such as The Outlaw Josey Wales, the Dirty Harry trilogy and Gran Tornio is headed to Port Arthur in a few weeks for jury duty.
The site, wtoe5news.com, goes on to say Eastwood owns property in Port Arthur and that his publicist said Eastwood is “happy to fulfill his civic duty as a member of a jury in Port Arthur.”
Jefferson County Appraisal District does list a person with the last name Eastwood — but does not list Clint Eastwood — as owning property in Beaumont.
Fans in Owensboro, Kentucky and Texarkana, Texas will likely be disappointed as well.
One clue to the hoax is that the webpage cites “news reports” without naming a specific news organization.
Eastwood does have a tie to the area though. His former partner, actress Frances Fisher, spent some of her childhood in Orange, Texas and even performed in theater there.
With jury duty in small towns considered a hoax it’s likely safe to say Eastwood isn’t moving to Amarillo, or Carson City, Nevada, or Jefferson City, Missouri either and that the headline about Eastwood being in a bar fight in Kenner, La. is fake as well.
