BEAUMONT — A 41-year-old Beaumont man has been indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a 3-month-old child.

Cedric Dwight Madison was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on Wednesday, according to a press release from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office.

The Texas Penal Code contains a special enhancement provision for cases involving a child victim who is younger than 6 years of age at the time the offense is committed.

If convicted, Madison faces a minimum of 25 years and a maximum term of life in prison.

An indictment is not a final conviction of guilt; it is only a ruling by the grant jury that allows the district attorney’s office to proceed with a criminal case.
