Hewell Adam Toutcheque

Hewell Adam Toutcheque, 93, a Native of Port Acres went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, September 19, 2016. Hewell was born October 26, 1922 in Iberia Parish, La., to the late Leopold and Ernestine Dupuis Touchet. Hewell lived in New Iberia, La., where he married Dorothy Touchet on June 17, 1945. The couple moved to Port Arthur in 1951 and later moved to Port Acres in 1959, where they raised six children.

Hewell was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy; son, Aaron Toutcheque; great-great granddaughter, Olivia Denise Huerta; 2 brothers, Joseph P. Touchet and Renedouet Touchet; and 2 sisters, Gladys Touchet Romero and Mabel Touchet Picard.

He is survived by his son, Donald Lee Toutcheque, Sr., and wife Barbara; daughters, Linda Toutcheque Decuir, Monica Toutcheque, Cynthia “Cindy” Toutcheque and Christine Toutcheque Hornsby Stelly; 9 grandchildren, Donald Jr., Sidney, Jeffery, Larry, Lanny, Ashlee, Bridget, Jamie, Kimberly and their spouses; 27 great grandchildren, Crystal, Aaron, Jeremy, Jaleana, Alyssa, Shaela, Brianna, Shari, Cari, Jeffery Jr., Colton, Christian, Lane, Tyler, Anika, Keegan, Aubrey, Savannah, Arissa, Jacey, Jordan, Kenzie, Haylee, Gabriela, Israel Jr., Erika and Alisa; 10 great-great grandchildren, Justin, Brianna, Fernando Jr., Nathan, Maddie, Cody, Jael, Haylie, Cole and Madison. Hewell is also survived by 2 nieces who were like daughters, Susie and Betty; very special friends and caretakers, Amy, Rhonda and Jennifer also his great-great niece, more like a granddaughter.

It’s hard to say “Goodbye” to the best father anyone could ever have. All of our friends would always say we were so lucky to have the best parents in the world. He was the most compassionate and caring person in the world who decorated each of our lives. His blood covered our hearts with his compassion. Daddy we love you with all our heart and it is so hard to let you go, but we know you are totally and completely healed and happy. Thanks for everything you ever taught us (loyalty, honesty, true integrity and how to care for ourselves and others). Thank you for your love and for being such a wonderful father and grandfather. Until we meet again, Christine, Cindy, Monica, Linda and Donald.

I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve taught my kids and me and all that you shared so generously with us. I will cherish you always. I love you Paw-Paw and I promise to be what you taught me to be. Thank you for everything, tell Maw-Maw I love her. Take care of my angels and I’ll see ya’ll when I get there…xoxoxoxo Kimberly.

I always think about the days we spent together working around the house and riding on the tractor. I thank God for the time spent with you and Maw-Maw, a true blessing and honor that not everyone has. I really am grateful for all that you taught me and all of your grandchildren. For many of us, you were the father we never had. I will always honor and cherish my memories with you and Maw-Maw; the only thing a man truly possesses and for that I really am a rich man…. I love you, Paw-Paw… Tell Maw-Maw Hi and I love her….. Jamie.

From all of your grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, thank you for the coffee milk, tractor rides and “Champ”. You will be forever in our hearts and we will always love our Paw-Paw “Hoochie”!

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2016, at Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church. Rite of Committal with Full Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
