There have been some changes going on across the area for Christus Southeast Texas Health System in the following ways according to a press release:

“We are well down the path toward our goal to deliver our nine county region a fully integrated health system,” it read. “We have unified and re-branded all of our locations across Southeast Texas under one name: Christus Southeast Texas Health System. This new brand reflects the fact we are no longer just hospitals, but an integrated delivery system specifically designed to help our communities ‘Live Well.’”
A year in to the transformation, Christus wrote there is more access to more physicians and healthcare in more locations, and more investments to better facilities for physicians, patients and associates.

Since July 1, 2015, Christus has invested more than $14 million in new construction and expansion that will better meet the needs of the community as the following:
1. Christus Southeast Texas St. Mary’s transformation to a short stay surgical hospital.

“Our associates and physicians have truly embraced its reconfiguration and it has yielded great improvements for our community,” it read. “Our patient satisfaction is very high, and our physicians are pleased with the facility upgrades and physical reorganization that embrace the efficiencies of a short stay surgical hospital for physicians and patients.”

According to their patient usage analysis, 95 percent of the patients treated in 2014 were on an outpatient basis.
Services include: Outpatient surgeries like ENT service, pain management procedures, ophthalmology, cataracts and glaucoma procedures.
Short stay inpatient surgery procedures like total knee and hip replacements
Outpatient/Ambulatory Services like cardiac cath lab, radiology, endoscopy, mammography and bone density, as well as outpatient chemotherapy/infusion, lab and pathology services, physical and occupational therapy, sports medicine and concussion clinic and emergency services.
2. Expanded the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Christus Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth. The $2.5 million investment will allow Christus to continue to provide the most advanced level of neonatal care available in Southeast Texas in a new state-of-the-art unit.
3. Through $2 million investment, enhanced the catheterization lab at Christus Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth to provide the highest level of technology to cardiac patients.
4. Adding new primary care physicians and specialists to the health system to ensure communities have the care that is needed.
5. A new outpatient center in Mid-County that will offer a 24/7 emergency room, Women’s Center, Sports Medicine/Concussion Center, lab and imaging services, hyperbaric and wound care and physical therapy/occupational therapy services.
