GROVES — Lowery Carnival Company is in town and getting ready for the Groves Pecan Festival.
Willie Lowery, of the carnival company, was out measuring plots for rides as employees nearby began work to put up the Tilt A Whirl.
“This year we’re bringing Vertigo, a 90-foot swing ring,” Lowery said of the ride with swings that circles high in the air. “We have a couple of new rides and family favorites like the Ferris Wheel and Tilt A Whirl.”
The group is setting up the rides this week and will be ready for opening day on Thursday, he said.
The 48th annual Groves Pecan Festival runs from Thursday, Nov. 3 through Sunday, Nov. 6 at Lion’s Park.
The festival will be open form 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday with the carnival only.
Musical duo Curse and the Cure featuring Jason Touchette and Norma Hopson are scheduled to perform Friday night and Champagne Room is set to perform Saturday night.
Beginning Friday there will also be booths offering many different types of festival food and vendors will be selling their wares.
