PREP ROUNDUP: Indians win two at Classic

PORT NECHES — Port Neches-Groves collected two wins Thursday at the PNG Kickoff Classic to open the new soccer season.
PNG defeated Hamshire-Fannett 8-0 and then took down Barbers Hill 3-0.
Colton Stone and Jarod Doyle each scored twice against Hamshire-Fannett while Chase Gordon, Micah Mullens, Preston Riggs and Caleb Davis each added a goal.
Stone, Kellon Hoyte and Mario Oceguera all scored against Barbers Hill.

PEARLAND — The Port Arthur Memorial Titan dropped its first game of the year, a 4-0 loss to Houston Chavez at the Pearland-Pasadena Tournament.
Chavez outshot Memorial 14-7 and scored two goals in each half.
Memorial did stop six shots on goal for saves.

PNG NETS TWO WINS

WALLER — The Port Neches-Groves Indians started this season off in style Thursday at the Waller Tournament.
PNG defeated Leander 2-0 in the team’s season opener.
Hailey Loupe scored PNG’s first goal of the year early in the first half off an assist from Julian Flores.
Gracie Seymour notched the Indians’ second goal later in the first half.
Goalkeeper Libbie LeJeune got the win in net and came away with five saves after 11 Leander shots.
PNG plays George Ranch at 10:15 a.m. today and Fort Bend Elkins at 5:45 p.m.
