Port Arthur Police have not released the name of a woman who was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a busy section of highway Sunday night.
Police received a 911 call of a major accident at 6:35 p.m. Sunday around the 8100 block of Memorial Boulevard/U.S. 69 southbound, according to a press release from PAPD.
Officers learned that a woman was crossing the highway on foot and was struck by at least one vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Tom Gilliam, who ordered an autopsy.
Tow other vehicles collided with each other in an attempt to avoid the first collision. There were no injuries and minor damage from that collision.
