Jamaal Charles of Port Arthur has endured two injury-riddled seasons as a Kansas City Chiefs running back, putting his role with the team in check.
But Chiefs general manager John Dorsey told the Kansas City Star he sees Charles returning to the team next season. Kansas City is the only franchise the 2005 Memorial High graduate has played for, but, according to NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, the Chiefs can save more than $6 million under the salary cap by letting Charles go. Charles is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent following the 2017 season, according to Spotrac.com.
“He’s working like the dickens to get himself ready for ’17,” Dorsey told the Star. “We’ll see what happens in March, but right now I see him as a Chief.”
