Nederland man dies at jail

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified Byron James Sessions, 33, of Nederland as the man who died in the book-in area of the jail on Saturday.
Port Arthur Police had brought the man to the Jefferson County Jail around 9 a.m. on trespassing charges, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Prior to being processed the man passed out. Facility medical personnel began CPR and Acadian EMS was called to the jail where they continued CPR.
The man was not able to be revived and was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m. A justice of the peace has ordered an autopsy.
The sheriff’s office is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Port Arthur Police Department.
The sheriff’s office offered condolences to the family of the man who died.
