VIDOR — A 2-year-old Vidor boy has died after he fell into a small pond in his yard and drowned Thursday night.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office got a call of the accident around 8 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 1500 block of Terry Road in Vidor, according to a press release from OCSO.
On their arrival CPR was being performed on the child and a medical helicopter was called for assistance.
The child was flown to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont and was later pronounced deceased.
Family members reported that the boy had been playing with a sibling inside the house. A short time later, they did not see the child and began looking for him and found him in the pond.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with this family during this difficult time,” OSCO said in the press release.
