Great job, PAISD

Port Arthur Independent School District is doing great things.
This week, we got the official word that the district has met state standards in all schools, meaning that for the first time since these standards were introduced in 2013, all is as it should be in our schools.
This accomplishment was not merely a reflection of hard work by teachers and classroom staff, but it’s also a reflection of the schools administration and the school board, the folks at the top who look to the future and craft a path forward. Clearly, these men and women have vision.
Finally, we would like to thank all the area parents and adults who have gotten involved with the district in whatever way possible. Children need adults to take them to school, attend games and concerts and generally cheer them on as they continue their education.
The people who have helped this district number more than parents and guardians. The number includes all the voters who passed the bond issue several years ago and the voters who approved the more recent tax hike. The number includes the Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce, a group that tirelessly supports our school district. The number includes businesses and industry and all the folks who donate, volunteer their time or in any way give back to the school system.
Without the support of our entire community, we would not have gotten here. So, truly, we say good work to the citizens of Port Arthur.
