18 bottles of codeine found during traffic stop

Law enforcement officers found 18 bottles of codeine after stopping a vehicle for speeding on Saturday.
A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy was working traffic shortly after 12:30 p.m. Aug. 19 on Interstate 10 when a silver Chrysler 300 was stopped for speeding at mile marker 847, according to a press release from JSCO.
The deputy reportedly noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted.
The occupants of the car included Darius Gowdy, also known as Darrian Givins, who was the driver; front passenger, Keshante Patton and rear passenger, Megan Spann.
The search revealed 18 bottles of suspected codeine in the trunk and trunk living. A small bag of suspected marijuana was located in a cigarette box in the front passenger door pocket. In addition, an orange pill located in a small clear bag, suspected to be ecstasy, was located in Patton’s pink purse in a side pocket.
A yellow pill with 36/01 imprinted on it, suspected to be a hydrocodone was located in the front passenger door handle pocket.
Gowdy was arrested for possession of a controlled substance — codeine, possession of marijuana, fail to identify fugitive from justice, and felony warrant out of Mississippi for burglary.
Spann was arrested for possession of controlled substance — codeine and possession of marijuana.
Patton was arrested for possession of controlled substance— ecstasy and possession of controlled substance — hydrocodone.
