Rescue crews are a combination of area law enforcement personnel, city public works crews and countless volunteers.

“There are volunteer boat crews launching off of Hwy 69 near Central Mall,” sheriff’s deputies reported on social media Wednesday. “They are working hand in hand with the group ‘Hurricane Harvey Rescue Golden Triangle.’ This is a Facebook group that is logging calls for rescue and coordinating the volunteer boaters”

“The Bob Bower Civic Center which is an evacuation shelter has began taking on water. They are taking care of those citizens who are already there,” the sheriff’s office reported. “They have set up an alternate shelter at MegaPlay Bowling Alley on Regional at Carl Parker. Many houses in Port Arthur are flooding and people are becoming trapped. Continue to call Port Arthur Emergency Services if you need assistance. Help is coming.”
