Raymond Edward Trahan, Sr., 83, of Port Neches, died Friday, September 22, 2017. He was born on May 7, 1934, in New Iberia, Louisiana, to Leah Viator Trahan and Leoto Joseph Trahan.

Raymond was a United States Navy veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years and retired as the Post Master in Port Arthur in 1993.  He was an active member in Kiwanis Club. Raymond was also a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and active member of the ACTS community at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He tutored at risk children after retirement and was very active in his children’s activities. Raymond enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, fishing, and gardening. He was a very good cook.

Survivors include his wife, Lynette Trahan of Port Neches; sons, Raymond Edward Trahan, Jr. and his wife, Julie Zwemke, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Donald Joseph Trahan, Sr. and his wife, Bettylynn, of Godley; Phillip Len Trahan of Port Neches; daughter, Angela Trahan Machado of Alvarado; and daughter-in-law, Marji Gausepohl and her husband, Jason of Nederland; grandchildren, Raymond Edward Trahan, III and his fiancée Konnor Emerson; Mark Joseph Trahan and his wife, Lindsey; Leah Alyse Alsibaa and her husband, Hadi; Donald Joseph Trahan, Jr. and his wife, Megan; Racheal Elizabeth Milich and her husband, Charles; Ronald Edward Trahan; Victor Anthony Garcia IV; Michaela Jo Machado; Holly Alicia Jurgens and her husband, Curtis; Tyler Breedlove; and Mariah Breedlove and her Fiancé, Jared Julien; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura Mae Broussard and Betty Joyce Cook; brother, Nolan James Trahan and his wife, Muriel;.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jerome “C.D.” Trahan, Gerald Joseph Trahan, and Roy Allen Trahan.

A gathering of Trahan’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 25, 2017, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with his interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
