Former defensive back Everson Walls will join seven other past Dallas Cowboys for a golf tournament they’re hosting to benefit Tropical Storm Harvey relief on Oct. 14 at Beaumont’s Brentwood Country Club.

Walls, a Dallas native who played with the Cowboys from 1981-89, was raised two miles from the Cowboys’ practice facility at the time and prepped at Richardson Berkner before going on to Grambling State. He joined the NFC East rival New York Giants for the 1990 season, the year the Giants won Super Bowl 25, and was on the team 2½ seasons before going to Cleveland, retiring as a Brown in 1993. He totaled 57 interceptions in the NFL.

The golf tournament, organized by Brent Coon and Associates, also features former Cowboys Kevin Smith (West Orange-Stark), Drew Pearson, Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Preston Pearson, Mel Renfro, Tony Casillas and Doug Donelly. Tee time is 8:30 a.m. and is a four-man/ladies’ scramble.
