PREP ROUNDUP: PNG wraps up outright 22-5A title

BEAUMONT — Of the 13 District 22-5A victories Port Neches-Groves won this season, this one may be the sweetest.
The Rock-A-Noos clinched the outright district title Friday with a 25-5, 25-17, 25-6 sweep of Beaumont Central and are one win away from an unbeaten record in district play.
Kaitlyn Gil keyed the win with 12 kills and two blocks. Libbie LeJeune led PNG (26-5, 13-0 in 22-5A) in service points with 16 and added eight digs, Baylee Priddy had 17 assists and six digs, Rachel Hammersmith totaled 12 assists, Layla Stansbury had seven kills, Stalee Adams added five kills and Halley Smith made five digs.
PNG finishes its regular season at Livingston on Tuesday night.

Also Friday, Nederland lost to Livingston in three sets (scores not available), and Vidor beat Port Arthur Memorial 25-21, 25-13, 25-21.
FOOTBALL
Iola 48, Sabine Pass 0
Coming off an inspiring blowout win over Burkeville to open the season late, Sabine Pass fell to 1-1 overall and in 12-2A Division II as traditional power Iola (2-4, 1-1) shut out the Sharks.
Statistics were not available. Sabine Pass will host Hull-Daisetta next Friday.
