BEAUMONT — Major changes have occurred in the capital murder case of Kera Teel and her unborn daughter, Kyndal, as new information has come to light.
Capital murder charges have been dropped against Jared Bias at the request of Beaumont detectives however he still faces several charges stemming from other criminal acts, according to a press release from the Beaumont Police Department.
In addition, a number of juveniles have been identified as suspects and are in custody on other charges at this time.
Detectives have worked the case since June 6 when Teel, who was 7-months-pregnant, was shot to death in her vehicle outside an apartment complex. Teel had taken her mother to a hospital in Galveston and were just returning from a long day of medical treatment when the shooting occurred. Teel’s mother was inside the vehicle during the incident but was not harmed.
During the course of the investigation detectives had to sort through many leads given by individuals who were involved or pretended to have knowledge of the crime, according to the press release.
Due to the fact that the suspects are juveniles, their names cannot be released, pending certification as adults, at which time they will be formally charged with the capital murder of Kera and Kyndal Teel.
“The Beaumont Police Department is confident that those involved in Kera and Kyndal Teel’s death will be held responsible. This has been a very complex case and we want nothing more than for justice to be served,” the release stated.”
