Plenty of options for fun on Saturday and Sunday

Golden Triangle residents had plenty of options for activities Saturday, from the Veterans Day celebrations to a coin show and a model train demonstration in Port Neches.
The coin show, in Groves, was hosted by the Great Port Arthur Coin Club, a group that hosts an annual November show. Dr. Tracie Updike said the group has been meeting for years and the show is an opportunity for collectors to buy coins to complete collections or for vendors to sell coins.
The group usually meets monthly at the Port Arthur library but, since the flooding, the group has been displaced and relocated to Updike’s offices at 2933 Park Plaza Lane. For more information, call 409-983-1899.
Across the county in Port Neches at the Effie and Wilton Hebert Public Library, the East Texas and Gulf Rail Modelers Association set up a perennial display. The group displayed at the Port Arthur library over the summer and their exhibit runs through Sunday and is free and open to the public.
“This is the third year at the Port Neches Library,” said Les McMahen, a member of the group. He said the group sets up to offer something for kids as well as adults to see.
“The kids come in and they get excited to see it,” he said. “For me, I just enjoy building them and showing off what we do and trying to get people interested in it.”
Their exhibit will be open on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
